About Ross
A proud former Loudoun County Public Schools student and a new parent of a future LCPS student, Ross Svenson is running for School Board to support the next generation of students, educators, and families.
Ross grew up in Broadlands and was a member of the first class of first graders at Hillside Elementary School when it opened in 1998. Ross's teachers at Hillside, and later at Eagle Ridge Middle School, fostered his passion for learning and an early interest in public service. An active member of the community in his teen and early adult years, Ross coached children of all ages with the Broadlands Piranhas Swim Team for seven years.
Ross attended college at Harvard University where he studied government and rowed on the varsity lightweight rowing team. After graduation, he worked as a community organizer in neighborhoods across the country during Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign. During the course of the campaign, Ross and his teams registered thousands of new voters and built durable networks of grassroots volunteers.
Following the campaign, Ross returned to Northern Virginia, working in Senator Mark Warner's DC office as a policy aide. Ross supported Senator Warner's legislative efforts to provide federal funding for public education, find common-sense solutions to end gun violence, and protect the civil rights of all Virginians.
Ross later returned to Harvard to earn his law degree, where he led the school's American Constitution Society chapter. Upon graduation, Ross clerked for the Hon. Paul W. Grimm of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.
Today, Ross is an attorney specializing in antitrust and competition law at a law firm in Washington, DC. He maintains an active pro bono practice.
This past year, Ross and his wife, Marlou, welcomed a baby boy to their family. They (and their beloved rescue dog) reside in Broadlands.
